Wanneer de 11 jarige Sven voor het eerst niet op zomervakantie kan omdat zijn moeder door een scheiding in de schulden verkeerd, ontmoet hij kinderen in het dorp die in soortgelijke situaties verkeren. Samen vormen ze een groep misfits die ondanks hun problemen thuis toch troost bij elkaar vinden tijdens de zomervakantie.

Left Behind,  is a mini-series centered around 11-year-old Sven, who, for the first time, is unable to go on summer vacation due to his mother's financial struggles. During this challenging time, Sven encounters other children in his village who are facing similar situations. Together, they form a group of misfits, bonded by their shared experiences and family difficulties. 
Despite their troubles at home, the group finds comfort and solace in each other throughout the summer. The series portrays the resilience of children and how friendships can provide support and healing in circumstances of poverty, even when life doesn't go as planned.
